Grounding in remote location

An unladen reefer ran aground on the remote island of Kwaiawata in south-west Papua New Guinea on 24th December 2012. It came to rest on submerged rocky outcrops and suffered damage to its hull leading to an oil spill which contaminated the adjacent shoreline with heavy fuel oil.
