Transboundary oil spill response exercise between Angola and Namibia, Namibia/Angola, 6-9 August 2019

Alex Hunt and Duarte Soares are trainers at the transboundary oil spill response exercise between Angola and Namibia, organised under the auspices of GIWACAF (the Global Initiative for West, Central and Southern Africa). The event is hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Angola and Ministry of Works and Transport of Namibia.  The objectives are: -

1. Test the communication links between Angola and Namibia;
2. Test mechanisms for requesting assistance and mobilization of international resources;
3. Test the National Plans of the two countries in the case of a trans-boundary oil spill incident; and
4. Expose participants to the key issues related to trans-boundary spill incidents.
