Expanded ASEAN Seafarer’s Training (EAST) Workshop on Responses to Trans-Boundary Maritime Pollution Incidents, Brisbane, Australia, 20-22 May 2015
ITOPF has been invited by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to participate in a training workshop focusing on trans-boundary spills as part of the Expanded ASEAN Maritime Forum (EAMF) Expanded ASEAN Seafarers' Training (EAST) Initiative. The workshop will focus on coordination between countries when an incident impacts multiple jurisdiction, as well as international assistance to affected countries. It is aimed at technical and policy officials with operational and policy responsibility for maritime pollution within the South East Asia region, and is to be co‐chaired by Australia and Vietnam.
The workshop will be held at the University of Queensland's Marine and Shipping Law Unit in Brisbane, Australia, from 20‐22 May 2015, and Alex Hunt, Technical Team Manager for the Asia-Pacific Team at ITOPF will attend to provide a keynote address and a presentation on trans-boundary oil spill case studies.
