ITOPF 2025 R&D Award application window now open

ITOPF has announced the opening of its 2025 Research and Development (R&D) Award application window, with up to £60,000 available for short term projects and up to £40,000 for PhD projects.
Up to £60,000 is available for short term projects (1-2 years) funds including research costs, staff costs, overheads, and travel expenses.
PhD projects could receive £40,000 for research costs in instalments in addition to a competitive annual stipend (living expenses) and contribution towards tuition fees are payable to the successful candidate each year for the duration of their research (up to 4 years).
The R&D Award has granted more than £600,000 since its inception and is aimed at projects with a focus on improving the knowledge base of issues related to accidental marine pollution from vessels. The history of the award has encouraged and facilitated organisations and students worldwide to develop ideas which may offer solutions to some of the challenges faced by the spill response community.
Applications close on the 30th November, with the award announcement taking place in April 2025.
