ITOPF visited key stakeholders in the P&I Clubs, NorthStandard, at its Newcastle location, for a two-day workshop and series of presentations covering hot topics in the pollution response industry.
Across the two days, ITOPF gave insights into its experience in responding to pollution incidents involving alternative fuels and what their potential risks and hazard are to human life and the marine environment, as well as an in-depth look at determining response end points and a session covering recent case studies. The organisation showcased the different tools it uses when responding to incidents, including satellite imagery and how to identify false-positives.
The workshop culminated in a table-top pollution incident workshop, where NorthStandard were placed into the many roles involved in responding to a pollution event,m giving them a glimpse of the breadth of information and decision-making processes invovled in spill response. This included ITOPF's Mixed Reality (MR) shoreline response application, where users were able to plan the deployment of response resources in a virtual scenario.
