ITOPF joins panel discussions at Seatrade Maritime Salvage & Wreck Conference

ITOPF joined the 2024 Seatrade Maritime Salvage & Wreck Conference last week, with Andrew Le Masurier, Dr. Amy Jewell and Marta Panero attending on behalf of the company.

In the panel session “Industry Concerns: Cargo Fires, Oil Spills and Pollution Issues”, Andrew gave insight into how future fuels may behave if lost to the environment and what hazards they can potentially pose to crew, salvors and wreck removal operations.

Amy contributed to the panel session “Managing Sustainability in Emergency Response”, in which panellists highlighted the challenges in identifying, managing and reporting environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks during incident response. Amy introduced the tools that ITOPF is developing to help tackle these challenges, and discussed the importance of keeping ESG tools flexible and applicable to our sector.
