ITOPF lectures at the World Maritime University

In June 2016, ITOPF was again invited to assist with WMU's MSC Maritime Affairs course, as part of our role as visiting professor at the University. Dr Nicola Beer presented on a variety of spill response topics over two mornings, to a group of approximately 35 students from a wide range of countries. Case studies were used to illustrate lessons learned from recent incidents and highlight some key issues facing the spill response community, and our "Introduction to Oil Spills" and "At-Sea Response" films rounded out the programme. The level of engagement among the students was excellent and made for a very interactive couple of days, with many students taking the opportunity to ask specific questions about how ITOPF's work could help assist with preparedness and response in their home countries.
