ITOPF supports GI WACAF webinar
14 October 2021
ITOPF presented at GI WACAF’s latest webinar on the compensation claims process in case of an oil spill, alongside representatives from the IOPC Funds. This was number six in a series of webinars delivered by GI WACAF on different aspects of oil spill preparedness and response. The webinar was conducted in both French and English, with Dr Franck Laruelle participating in the morning French session and Christopher Black presenting at the English session in the afternoon. ITOPF’s presentation covered claims for response clean-up costs, environmental damage, and post-spill studies. It included discussion on what items are admissible under the international compensation regime, how rates should be calculated, and how claims should be documented and presented. The English session was attended by 68 delegates and concluded with a lively Q&A session.
