Regional Maritime Safety Conference, India
26 February 2019
Richard Johnson attended the two-day Regional Maritime Safety Conference in Mumbai from 17-18 February. The event was organised by the National Maritime Foundation (NMF), a think tank associated with the Indian Navy, in coordination with the Ministries of Shipping and External Affairs.
The conference addressed issues relating to maritime safety practices in the India-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region, including marine oil spill pollution and environmental safety. Richard presented ITOPF’s perspective on preparedness and response issues in Southeast Asia, illustrated with recent case histories. The conference was well-attended and provided ITOPF with opportunities to meet with government representatives and some of our shipowner Members and Associates.
