Regional training in Kenya

ITOPF was invited to deliver regional training on oil pollution preparedness, response and cooperation for eastern African countries in Nairobi, Kenya from 5th-8th June. The workshop was based on the IMO Level 2 Model Course curriculum designed for incident managers, on-scene commanders and supervisors. It was attended by representatives from government institutions in Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zanzibar and is part of the ongoing collaboration between IMO, the UN Environment Programme, the government of Norway's Oil for Development Programme and the Nairobi Convention.
ITOPF was represented by Franck Laruelle and Nancy Wong at the four-day event which took an interactive and case study-based approach, involving videos, panel discussions, short lectures and group work and generated lots of questions and interesting discussions.
