Visiting Professor at World Maritime University
19 June 2015
In our role as visiting professor at the World Maritime University (WMU), ITOPF was invited to assist with the 2015 intake of students on the MSc in Maritime Affairs course. Within a module on Contingency Planning and Ocean Governance, Dr Mark Whittington presented on a variety of topics in relation to pollution response for two mornings on 15-16 June. He also took the opportunity to show two of our films "Introduction to Oil Spills" and "At-Sea Response".
Approximately 25 students attended the lectures from a variety of countries (including Chile, Argentina, Korea, Japan, Nigeria, Ghana, St Kitts and Trinidad & Tobago). Most were either already working in or aiming for a career in maritime administration, and were eager to see how ITOPF might be able to assist with the challenges faced in their home countries.
ITOPF will work with WMU to see how best we can develop our contribution to the course for next year's intake.
