ITOPF facilitates claims and compensation workshop in Canada

Those affected by ship-source pollution incidents can make claims against economic losses they have experienced, and the submitting, processing, and handling of these claims is a vital step in mitigating the effects of pollution on those associated with the marine environment.
ITOPF spent time in Canada with the Ship Fund of Ship and Rail Compensation Canada | Indemnisation Navire et Rail Canada, the International Group of P&I Clubs (IGP&I), and the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC Funds) to deliver a two-day tabletop workshop covering aspects of claims processing and handling.
The workshop was designed to provide a collaborative environment for the four core organisations involved in maritime spill compensation to promote open, candid dialogue, explore potential challenges, and build a shared understanding of claims coordination in Canada.
Co-facilitated by Triox Environmental Emergencies and ITOPF, the sessions supported peer-level exchange between compensatory bodies.
